Helen Zhang (Chinese Teacher) says
Please see the translations below
我爸爸是律师。(Wǒ bàba shi lǜshi.)
My father is a lawyer.
If you want to ask a question about the identity of the subject “我,” you can say:
谁的爸爸是律师?(Shuí de bàba shì lǜshī)
Whose father is a lawyer?
If you want to ask a question about the identity of the object “律师,” you can say:
你爸爸做什么工作?(Nǐ bàba zuò shénme gōngzuò?)
What is your father's job?
Or you can add “吗” to the end of the sentence to form a general inquiry.
是的。(我爸爸是律师。)/不是,(我爸爸不是律师。)
(Shì de, wǒ bàba shì lǜshī./ Bú shì, wǒ bàba bú shì lǜshī.)
Yes, my father is a lawyer./ No, my father isn't a lawyer. Have you got it?
