Helen Zhang (Chinese Teacher) says
In Chinese, we use “正在 (zhèngzài)” to indicate that an action is in process. And we use modal particle word “了 (le)” at the end of sentence to indicate that an action has been finished.
For examples:
她正在看书。 (Ta zhèngzài kān shū.)
She is reading some books.
他正在上网。(Tā zhèngzài shàngwǎng)
He is surfing online.
她起床了。(Tā qǐ chuáng le.)
She got up.
我昨天去爬山了。(Ta zuótiān qù pá shān le.)
I went hiking on the mountain yesterday.
